Visa and Immigration seminar
The Postdoctoral Society of Argonne (PSA) presents a special Visa and Immigration Seminar for International Postdocs. The event takes place Wednesday, May 27, 2015, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., Building 446 Auditorium.
Lunch will be provided and will be served at 11:45 a.m., with presentations starting at noon.
This seminar will provide an overview of U.S. visas and the immigration process, addressing some of the many challenges and obstacles encountered by international postdocs, both during their time at Argonne as well as after leaving Argonne.
This event is open to all Argonne employees interested in learning more about the U.S. visa and immigration process. This seminar will feature presentations from Newcomer Assistance Office Coordinator Jutta Meyer (HR) and Senior Immigration Specialist Gabriella Manolache (HR).
Immediately following the conclusion of their presentations, an open question and answer session will take place.

About the Presenters
Jutta Meyer is Argonne’s Newcomers Assistance Coordinator. She holds a master’s degree in educational science and actively helps new employees become settled in the Chicagoland area, particularly international employees who are new to the United States.
As a Senior Immigration Specialist at Argonne, Gabriella Manolache oversees and manages the immigration center of expertise within Argonne HR’s Talent Acquisition area. Gabriella obtained her B.A. from Michigan State University in International Relations and her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
She supervises the international office staff in processing all J-1 applications and personally files H-1B petitions. Gabriella has helped shape the Newcomers Assistance and International Services blog.
Karen Liptak is an HR Administrator in Immigration. She has been at the laboratory for 28 years and has worked in the Immigration area for the past 16 years. Karen is the Responsible Officer for the lab’s J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.
