Gopalsami named IEEE Fellow

Nachappa Gopalsami, senior electrical engineer in the Nuclear Engineering Division, was recognized as a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
It validates that you have contributed something significant to a technical field.
I consider this honor as name recognition for myself, but also for Argonne.
Nachappa Gopalsami, Senior Electrical Engineer
The IEEE Board of Directors named Nachappa an IEEE Fellow at its November 2014 meeting for his “contributions to millimeter-wave spectroscopy, imaging and reflectometry.”
Gopalsami first came to Argonne in 1979 as a summer student and was hired as a staff member the following year. His research focuses on the development of novel millimeter-wave techniques, sensors and systems for nuclear nonproliferation applications.
Millimeter-wave frequency band offers a “window” to the atmosphere and allows for long-distance transmission under optically obscuring conditions, such as when it is cloudy.
Gopalsami said he is honored to be an IEEE fellow.
