Argonne celebrates “Year of the Monkey”
Join the lunchtime celebration as the Chinese Association at Argonne (CAA) rings in 2016, the Year of the Monkey. On Monday, Feb. 8, the Bistro 213 Café will offer a special Chinese menu, including sweet sour pork over rice, small eggrolls, hot and spicy soup and fortune cookies.
The New Year festivities include Chinese cultural displays, a Chinese New Year couplet poem and a traditional Chinese folk music performance featuring the hulusi, a free-reed wind instrument and the erhu, known as the Chinese violin. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn Chinese greetings for welcoming the New Year, enter a lucky prize raffle and socialize at the “70th Anniversary Timeline Wall.”
Lisa Durham, director of the Argonne Leadership Institute, will speak.
The Chinese New Year Celebration will take place Monday, Feb. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Bistro 213 Café. Musical performance and speaker events will be at noon.
