Safety share: Halogen, heat of a thousand suns
A halogen lamp may not be as hot as a thousand suns, but it sure will feel that way if you accidentally touch one.
In 2014, Argonne experienced a safety incident in which a desktop halogen light melted a computer keyboard. Thankfully, the keyboard didn’t ignite, but it’s important to take precautions so that you and your workspace are protected.

Kicking off meetings with a safety share is a great way to break the ice, begin teambuilding from the onset of meetings and keep safety at the forefront of our minds each and every day. The Safety Share Library, binned by topic area, provides a variety of resources for your convenience.
All employees, groups and divisions are encouraged to submit safety shares for inclusion in the library. Submission details are available on Inside Argonne.
Each month a safety share submitted by an individual will be selected by Environment, Safety and Quality Assurance to receive a Spot Award for demonstrated safety leadership. The Spot Award program offers three award levels: gold ($100), silver ($50) and bronze ($25).
