Want a better commute? Take the survey
By Karen Kosky, Sustainability Program Manager, Facilities Management and Services
The daily work commute is common to most of us, but the way we experience it varies from person to person. Some people enjoy the commute time, using it as an opportunity to be alone with their thoughts. Others dread it as a chore.
Argonne’s Sustainability and Environmental Program wants to learn more about your commuting habits — what’s working for you and what’s not. Are you looking to reduce the cost of your commute or perhaps spend less time on the road? We’re asking these questions because we’re hoping to, over time, help the lab adopt “greener” commuting habits that generate fewer carbon emissions.
Take the 2016 Commuter Survey online now to have your input heard. This is an opportunity to provide feedback so future programs can be designed to fit your needs. The survey is hosted by an approved and secure third-party service, SurveyMonkey.
Argonne and all federal facilities are required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated by employee commuting and travel by 25 percent by 2025. That’s a challenging goal, so Argonne and the other national laboratories in the DOE complex are benchmarking, collecting annual metrics and sharing best practices as part as a collective effort to reduce commuting emissions.
