Commercializing technology at Argonne and the Innovation Fund, Fall 2016
In preparation for the Fall 2016 cycle of the University of Chicago’s Innovation Fund, Argonne and UChicago will hold an information session about technology commercialization on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016. The session will be held at 10 a.m. in Bldg. 241, Room D172.
The $20 million Innovation Fund represents a tremendous opportunity for lab-developed technologies to be commercialized.
With commercial discipline, focused pre-commercial seed funding, and post-funding consulting, the Innovation Fund paves the path to commercialization for advanced technologies and products and cultivates a community of early-stage innovators and entrepreneurs in the local innovation ecosystem.
Among the topics that will be covered:
- Intellectual property protection and conflict of interest
- The various innovation programs available to Argonne researchers and how the Innovation Fund fits in
- How the Technology Development and Commercialization Division (TDC) can assist in commercialization efforts at Argonne
- Specifics about the Innovation Fund, including tips for success
The Innovation Fund invests in ventures leveraging UChicago- and Argonne-developed technologies; investments range from $20,000 to $250,000 and can be put toward prototyping, commercialization strategy, critical market studies and leveraging of other proof-of‐concept funding sources.
