Summer teen program ‘All About Energy’ presentation
The inaugural STEM summer teen program “All About Energy” is hosting a presentation for the public to mark the end of the six-week program on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the William Eckhardt Research Center, 5640 S. Ellis Ave., Chicago, First Floor.
This groundbreaking program is a collaboration among After School Matters, Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago Office of Civic Engagement.
The All About Energy program engages Chicago teens in the same challenge as their city: to reduce carbon emissions by 20 percent. The teens have become energy decision makers tasked with developing a neighborhood-specific alternative energy plan that will reduce that neighborhood’s carbon emissions as articulated by the Chicago Climate Action Plan. Through the program, Chicago teens have worked with experts in the fields of solar, wind, nuclear and biomass energy from the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory.
