Meet Argonne’s Education Outreach Team
Argonne’s Education Outreach Team will hold an informal meet-and-greet Monday, Oct. 3, through Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, in the Bldg. 213 Cafeteria from 12-1 p.m. Look for new Outreach Lead Jessica Dietzel and associates Jacquie Janney and Azucena Rodriguez (all CEPA) at a blue-covered table.
Dietzel was previously at the Museum of Science and Industry and held positions as floor activity development coordinator and education coordinator for their Learning Lab program. She is currently completing her master’s in biology.
Among the many tasks the team is responsible for is that of connecting Argonne scientists and engineers with volunteer opportunities. Throughout the year, the team receives multiple requests for mentorship and support from the world-class staff here at Argonne. Scientist and engineer volunteers play a critical role in shaping attitudes and understanding among next-generation scientists and engineers.
The Education Outreach Team needs volunteers for:
- STEM Festival activity presenters and talking to kids and families about science and engineering careers
- Career Day career presenters
- Competition and science fair judges
- Guest speakers
- Other topic specific events such as hour of code
- Supporting the Education Department in the development of activities
- and more
If you would like to be a volunteer, you can sign up in person this week at the Education Outreach table in the cafeteria, or send an email to Jessica Dietzel. Feel free to stop by and say hi or ask questions about any of the work the Education Department is responsible for.
