In memoriam: Joan Waltz

Apr 5, 2017 | Posted by Argonne Today | People |

Joan Waltz, who worked at Argonne from 1976 – 1999, died January 17, 2017, from vascular dementia. She served in administrative roles in several divisions. She especially enjoyed working in the Office of Public Affairs (now Communications and Public Affairs), where in addition to her regular duties, she contributed feature stories that added depth, heart and a touch of whimsy to the laboratory’s employee newsletter.

Waltz retired in October 1999 and enjoyed time with her family and friends in the Acacia neighborhood of Indian Head Park, Ill. In her later years, she moved to an assisted living facility in Minneapolis to be near family.

She is survived by daughter Jennifer (Waltz) Olson and son Jonathan Waltz.
