DeGroot, Huckfeldt, Poe, Sponaugle, Williams and Brown receive July 2017 Gold Spot Awards
Michael DeGroot, Bruce Huckfeldt, Montez Poe, Vickie Sponaugle and Sean Williams, Jr. (FAC) received Gold Spot Awards for taking quick action in response to a fire water main break that occurred underneath the slab of Building 431 on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.
The team came in after hours to remove water in lab-office modules that had been effected by the water main break. Thanks to their swift response, hazards like mold growth were avoided and building occupants were able to return to their work areas in a timely manner.
Virginia Brown (FAC) was instrumental in coordinating the crew’s cleanup effort and was also recognized with a Gold Spot Award.
Spot Awards give employees “on-the-spot” recognition for positive safety or quality assurance initiative. The Spot Award program offers three award levels: gold ($100), silver ($50) and bronze ($25).
If you see an employee exhibiting behavior that warrants positive recognition (e.g., safe behavior or process improvements), you can nominate that individual for a Spot Award by submitting Spot Award (ANL-758).
The form will be routed to the individual’s supervisor and division for approval. Observers may award employees from their own division or from other divisions. The cost of the award is charged to the recipient’s division.
Additional information about the Spot Award program is available on Inside Argonne.
