WIST to form new subcommittees on engineering and computing
The Women in Science and Technology (WIST) program will be forming two new subcommittees to focus on engineering and computing. The mailing lists for each subcommittee are open to all employees.
WIST Subcommittee on Engineering
This subcommittee will promote networking among women engineers at Argonne as well as organize Argonne’s presence at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) conferences, interaction with local engineering organizations such as SWE and coordination of Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. The committee will be chaired by Emily Zvolanek, current WIST Steering Committee member representing CELS.
WIST Subcommittee on Computing
This subcommittee will promote networking among women in computing at Argonne as well as organize Argonne’s presence at the Grace Hopper Women in Computing conference and communicate various networking and outreach opportunities in the area including Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Hour of Code and Argonne’s Cyber Defense Competition. The committee will be chaired by Maria Power, current WIST Steering Committee member representing PSE.
