A successful visit with Secretary Perry
Thank you to everyone who helped give U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry an exceptional experience during his visit to the lab last week, including the more than 700 employees who attended his all-hands address.
When notified of the visit, I knew we had an extremely busy week of preparation ahead. However, I was confident that we would provide a memorable visit for the Secretary, and we did just that — it was a great success.
From the moment the Secretary arrived at North Gate to the applause he received at the conclusion of the all-hands, he was graciously welcomed. During his visit, Secretary Perry learned about our high-quality science in the areas of high performance computing, energy storage, manufacturing science and engineering, and X-ray technology. Most importantly, he heard how our science positively impacts the world.
In addition to the scientists and engineers who demonstrated their work to the Secretary, I thank the employees from numerous mission support divisions who ensured that the Secretary was safe, comfortable and well-informed throughout his visit.
Secretary Perry’s visit was a remarkable opportunity for us to showcase our impact. Thank you all for the work you do and positioning the lab for future success.
