Learning more about our colleagues, our community
By Lisa Durham, Director, Argonne Leadership Institute – Human Resource Services
Our neighbors, friends and family might often ask us: “What is Argonne?”
A question perhaps posed less often: “Who is Argonne?”
Who is Argonne? It is all of us collectively and individually. We are diverse individuals working toward a common goal of mission success. We are a talented workforce that is stronger for its many cultures and backgrounds.
It is in this spirit that we introduce a new digital poster and video series, “I Am Argonne.” Each year we commemorate a variety of national historical and cultural observances. These observances provide us with a chance not only to reflect on their significance per se, but also on what they mean to individual employees. Learning how such historical and cultural celebrations inform employees’ lives and work can lead us to a better understanding of the Argonne community as a whole.
The first posters in this series are in recognition of Black History Month and feature Eva Stringer (NST) and Arista Thurman III (AES). Look for them around the laboratory. Watch the videos here and here.
Look for more I Am Argonne posters and videos throughout the year and ask yourself, “Who is Argonne?” Hopefully, you’ll find the answer is “Each of us.”
