Slide deck available from Peggy Vasquez workshops
Approximately 200 employees attended recent workshops presented by Peggy Vasquez, a chief executive assistant at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Sponsored by the Argonne Leadership Institute, the workshops focused on building effective partnerships between managers and administrative professionals. Administrative professionals from Fermilab also attended.
“Knowing Peggy comes from a sister laboratory, she has an understanding of our work atmosphere at Argonne. I appreciated her overall view of the various hats we wear as a senior admin; we are essentially ‘The Trusted Advisor’ in the office. She reinforced the notion that in addition to regular duties, our roles entail counselling, coaching, mentoring and so much more,” said Silvia Mulligan (CLS) a co-organizer of the event.
“I was inspired by her energetic style and her ability to empower admin professionals as she defined all of the different ways our roles have evolved over the years,” said co-organizer Jen Hogan (PSE). “I also appreciated her perspective on the importance of seeking a mentor who has gone where you want to go. One of the most important aspects of mentoring is paying it forward. Power is gained by sharing knowledge, not by hoarding it.”
Vasquez is also an administrative professional coach, certified executive professional assistant, certified trainer and author of the book “Not Just an Admin!”
