Jason Boggs (BIS) receives March 2018 Gold Spot Award
In March 2018, Jason Boggs (BIS) received a Gold Spot Award for his outstanding commitment to cyber security safety.
During a code review of the ServiceNow core tool, Boggs discovered a high risk software security bug in the application. Understanding the severity of the potential risk presented by the bug, Boggs immediately reported his discovery up the chain of command at Argonne and to the ServiceNow Company. The cloud computing company that operates ServiceNow is tracking the bug with a high priority to fix it and is keeping Argonne up-to-date with tracking information.
Thanks to Boggs’ discovery, the bug was identified and contained, which ensures that the ServiceNow tool will continue to operate securely and maintain stability for Argonne.
Spot Awards give employees “on-the-spot” recognition for positive safety or quality assurance initiative. The Spot Award program offers three award levels: gold ($100), silver ($50) and bronze ($25).
If you see an employee exhibiting behavior that warrants positive recognition (e.g., safe behavior or process improvements), you can nominate that individual for a Spot Award by submitting xink form Spot Award (ANL-758).
The form will be routed to the individual’s supervisor and division for approval. Observers may award employees from their own division or from other divisions. The cost of the award is charged to the recipient’s division.
Additional information about the Spot Award program is available on Inside Argonne.
