2018 Postdoctoral Research and Career Symposium

The 2018 Postdoctoral Research and Career Symposium will take place Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Building 240 TCS Conference Center.

- Promotes networking among postdocs and with industry representatives
This year’s keynote speaker is Peter Fiske, director of the Water-Energy Resilience Research Institute. Fiske has experience with research, entrepreneurship and management, and will share his thoughts on career development for scientists.
Panelists include Ksenija Glusac, associate professor of chemistry (UIC) and scientist (Argonne); Joe Bernstein, senior director, Financial and Grant Services (UChicago); Jonathan Logan, scientist (Alcorix Co.); and Shalaka Shinde, senior scientist (Oil-Dri Corporation of America). All these panelist have Argonne in their history. Yet, their careers went to completely different directions including academia, administration, startups and industry.

- Career panel discussions
- Networking lunch with representatives from industry
Registration and abstract submission are now open. Abstracts should be submitted by Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018. Attendee-only registration will remain open until Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018.
Resumes will be provided for company exhibitors. Please submit resumes by Oct. 18, 2018, using the instructions and template available on the symposium webpage.
