Employees honored for reaching service milestones
Argonne Laboratory Director Paul Kearns and Chief Human Resources Officer Julie Nuter recently hosted a luncheon honoring employees who achieved a milestone service anniversary at Argonne in 2018. Human Resource Services (HRS) organized the Nov. 29 event held at the Argonne Guest House to recognize employees who reached 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 years of service. The total number of employees with a milestone anniversary this year was 159.
“I have talked many times about ‘our science changing the world.’ Today’s honorees help us do that,” Kearns told those assembled, including honorees, associate laboratory directors and other leaders. “They have helped Argonne make pivotal discoveries, collaborate with others to drive innovation and support the greater scientific community with powerful tools and facilities.”
Collectively, those honored have logged more than 4,000 service years during their careers at Argonne. Many employees began their employment before the construction of the Advanced Photon Source and some of the most senior honorees were actively involved in the early advancement of nuclear technology.
“On behalf of senior leadership and everyone here at Argonne, I want to thank you again for your service, and to congratulate you on your many achievements,” Kearns said.
