Allison Cherry receives February 2019 Gold Spot Award
Allison Cherry (NWM) contributed substantially to the success of the Nuclear and Waste Management division’s Y‑12 Uranium Packaging Campaign, which took place the week of Feb. 18, 2019. This effort involved packaging more than 3,400 items in under three days.
Cherry, who assisted both in inventory preparation activities and as project team inspector, helped to ensure that no packaging rework would be needed, as rework creates exposure risks and industrial hazards that could jeopardize workers’ health and safety. Her exceptional efforts and attention to detail during the Y-12 campaign facilitated the project’s success.
Spot Awards give employees “on-the-spot” recognition for positive safety or quality assurance initiative. The Spot Award program offers three award levels: gold ($100), silver ($50) and bronze ($25).
If you see an employee exhibiting behavior that warrants positive recognition (e.g., safe behavior or process improvements), you can nominate that individual for a Spot Award by submitting Spot Award (ANL-758).
The form will be routed to the individual’s supervisor and division for approval. Observers may award employees from their own division or from other divisions. The cost of the award is charged to the recipient’s division.
Additional information about the Spot Award program is available on Inside Argonne.
