Ajayi publishes textbook on tribology
Argonne Principal Material Scientist Oyelayo O. Ajayi (AMD) recently published “Friction, Wear, Lubrication – A Textbook in Tribology, 2nd edition” (CRC press). The book, co-authored with Professor K. C. Ludema of the University of Michigan, introduces tribology in a way that builds student’s knowledge and understanding of multi-discipline field of tribology. It covers fundamental aspects of friction, wear and lubrication mechanisms, as well as practical or applied aspects of tribology. The book also provides students and practicing engineers with information on tools and techniques for tribological studies and system design.
Ajayi received his Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1989. He has conducted basic and applied research for more than 30 years in various areas of tribology and surface engineering in both industry and Argonne. Ajayi has authored more than 130 peer-reviewed papers and holds eight U.S. patents. He is a fellow of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) and a member of ASM International as well as the American Ceramic Society.
