MyArgonne: Our new intranet’s path to successful search
If you’ve ever encountered a dead end while looking for a specific policy or procedure on Inside Argonne, you may find a feature of the new intranet, MyArgonne, particularly helpful. The new intranet offers a dedicated search page for lab-wide policies and procedures, which should noticeably improve the accuracy of search results.
Similarly, MyArgonne features a dedicated search page for Lessons Learned, providing easy access to safety and efficiency best practices. The same will be available for the lab’s Prime Contract.
What about more general searches? They’ll improve, too, though it will benefit from use. Behind the scenes, the MyArgonne site search will tap artificial intelligence and other technologies to continuously improve the accuracy of results for each search query. The more we search, the more the search engine will learn based on the results we select, and the better the search results for a particular query will be going forward.
Improved intranet site search was one of the top requests when we asked for lab-wide priorities to guide this project. By the time we complete the third rollout in fall 2020, and as our search engine learns based on what and how we search, we will deliver highly successful search results for Argonne.
We’ll highlight other features of MyArgonne as we near the Wednesday, Dec. 11, launch date.
